High Point’s robust furniture history dates to 1889 when the High Point Furniture Company opened, followed by the opening of more than 40 furniture factories. After World War II, an estimated 60 percent of all furniture made in America was produced within a 150-mile radius of High Point.

If you’re thinking about moving to North Carolina, High Point has everything you need. Centrally located, High Point is anchored by four major interstate highways that allow for easy travel. The area is also within a 30-minute drive of several metropolitan destinations, including nearby Winston-Salem and Greensboro. Regional business hubs are in Raleigh (1½ hours away), Charlotte (1½ hours away), Atlanta (5 hours away) and Washington, D.C. (5 hours away).

Convenient access to three airports makes international travel simple and is an attractive amenity for traveling professionals. Amtrak’s Crescent, Carolinian, and Piedmont trains connect downtown High Point’s historic train depot with the cities of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Richmond, Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta, Birmingham and New Orleans.

The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) operates in High Point. It is a bus service that shuttles people between most of the cities in the northwestern Piedmont region of North Carolina.
